Muffled Corners is a presentation of contemporary dance produced by Slick Babble Dance Project. A family-friendly buffet of short dance pieces, this performance will feature three new dance works by Emmeline Gonzalez-Beban alongside choreography by special guests Amelia Eisen and Kim Ip. These featured works explore Gonzalez-Beban’s choreographic philosophy through different lenses that range from the absurd realities of multiverse theory to the fiery physical expressions of the oppressed body.
Slick Babble Dance Project participated in The Salon on May 7th, 2016. Performance at 9pm, followed by a post-showcase dance party!
Tickets $10 at the door, or in advance here.
LevyStudio, 19 Heron St., San Francisco, CA 94103
“Now in it’s eighth year, the Salon is a quarterly performing arts showcase. Ten Bay Area artistsof various disciplines are offered ten free hours of studio space to play, take risks, explore, and collaborate. Each artist or group shares five minutes of new work at this Saturday evening art extravaganza. Comfy couches, free snacks, cheap cash bar, and an eclectic line-up make for one of the best performance viewing experiences in town. Stay and shake it at the Salon’s raucous post-showcase party!”
Slick Babble Dance Project premiered its first evening-length dance work, “Us, Fumbling” on February 24th-25th, 2016 at SAFEhouse Arts!
Us, Fumbling was choreographed by Emmeline Gonzalez-Beban, and features performers Colette Bakke, Nathan Forster, Aimee K. Heslop, Michael D. Lee, and Erica Pinigis.
Mudanza Discorde has been experimenting and collaborating for 4+ months, and now we want YOU to get in on the action!
If you’re in the Berkeley, CA area, come join us for an (extremely) informal showing of our work-in-progress on Sunday June 28th, 2015 at 1pm. It will take place at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in studio 3. Questions, comments, and “wrecking” are all encouraged! Musical arrangements by Tanya Benitez!

On January 11th, 2015, Ramon Pulido and I were officially announced as resident artists for 2015 at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center at the annual open house celebration! Since Ramon was not able to make it to the event, I prepared a solo to share with Shawl-Anderson’s community members (an idea seed for further exploration!).
Ramon and I are incredibly excited to continue our choreographic experiments with Shawl-Anderson’s support. For more updates about our collaboration, Mudanza Discorde, get on our email list by sending an email to email@example.com.
At the end of October, I premiered a new dance work at The Garage in San Francisco entitled “Because Poems Are Not Pies (or something like that).” The work was created as part of RAW (Resident Artist Workshop). Excerpts are now up on my vimeo channel! Check it out!
